Marie Collins Foundation has joined dozens of child rights organisations to call for the swift adoption of the ePrivacy derogation extension in the EU.

Each time an image or video of child sexual abuse is viewed, the child is revictimized. The permanence and lack of control over the images or videos can have significant impacts on their recovery journey. This is why it is essential that platforms are able to continue their efforts to detect, report and remove child sexual abuse material on their services. Should the extension not be granted, this will stop. We strongly urge policymakers to not allow this to happen.

This extension should only be considered as a transitory solution, as the core focus is to agree on a long-term framework, and promptly adopt the CSA Regulation. We, and all other signatories, remain committed to working towards legislation which stands the test of time and that is in the best interest of children.
